JonBenét Ramsey, a six year-old girl, was found brutally murdered in her home on December 26, 1996 in Boulder, Colorado. There were no signs of forced entry. Her parents, John and Patsy Ramsey, refused to cooperate with the police and responded by hiring attorneys and conducting television interviews. On the other side, the Boulder Police Department and District Attorney’s Office drove an investigation fraught with infighting and confusion. Along the way, the truth escaped. Umbrella of Suspicion unravels many of the mysteries and questions surrounding the death of JonBenét Ramsey.

This book is written in a thesis or dissertation format which makes it dull. I was annoyed at the many citations within text that tended to interrupt the flow of reading. Clearly most of this work relies on other authors who wrote books on this topic. There are quite a few typos and duplicated words that should have been caught by a proofreader and even a spell check. Since one author's book was cited so many times (Steve Thomas), I ordered his book and currently reading. So far this book has been spellbinding and shocking at some of the revelations. Who Killed JonBenet Ramsey is a tale which may never be solved. Was it an accident or was it murder?Product details

Umbrella of Suspicion Investigating the death of JonBenet Ramsey John W Taylor 9780615671277 Books Reviews
Interesting book refreshing our memories why this murder has not been definitely solved. It shows a different perspective than we received from the media circus. It points out many of the errors made by the police, DA and the Ramsey's themselves. A good source of information if this 'cold case' is ever re-opened.Umbrella of Suspicion Investigating the death of JonBenet Ramsey
I enjoyed this book. It was an easy read and it does make you understand more about why this murder has never been solved. I was young when this happened so I didn't know all of the story and this book told me a lot of what I didn't know. It saddens me to know that a 6 year old can have her life taken in her own home and noone has ever been punished for taken her innicioent life. Unfortunately this is a crime that will never be solved. However, I do believe that Patsy Ramsey knew who done this to her daughter and also helped cover it up. As a mother of two I can't imagine how you would cover up for someone who killed your child. It would only have to be someone that you loved the same, another child. After all of my research and reading I never heard much about Burke. I know he was young but that's the only thing that makes sense to me.
This is a good book to read but it does somewhat make you angry. I just will never understand why this murder was never solved and how a six year old child never gets justice.
I enjoyed this book. It was an easy read to unfortunately a case that will never be solved. Author confirmed my suspicions. I would recommend if you were interested in reading more on the death of JonBenet.

This book has some good information and conclusions, however, it is very poorly written and extremely redundant. It appears the author spoke into a microphone and then someone typed up what he said verbatim. There is no indication an editor ever worked on the manuscript. Examples conjuncture for conjecture; sequence for sequin and the list goes on. The man is not a writer. It also begs the question, if he is this careless with words, how careless was he with the facts of the case? He also leaves a number of holes in his theories. He writes of a "practice (ransom) note" but then never explains what that means. Was there a second note? It's probably worth reading if you are as interested in the case as I am, but be prepared for terrible writing.
I found this work to be a thorough and comprehensive account of the investigation into the death of Jon Benet Ramsey. The author does a nice job of presenting the details surrounding the events that took place on the night of the death, and builds a solid hypothesis of what likely happened on that fateful Christmas evening. Although lengthy in spots, a fairly quick and enjoyable read.
